Abraham and his descendants received the promise that they would get the whole world. He did not receive that promise through the law, but through being right with God by his faith.

I will bless those who bless you, and I will place a curse on those who harm you. And all the people on earth will be blessed through you.”

I will bless her and give her a son, and you will be the father. She will be the mother of many nations. Kings of nations will come from her.”

Your descendants will be as many as the dust of the earth. They will spread west and east, north and south, and all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants.

Kings will come from Judah’s family; someone from Judah will always be on the throne. Judah will rule until Shiloh comes, and the nations will obey him.

If you ask me, I will give you the nations; all the people on earth will be yours.

Let all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him.

We tell you the Good News about the promise God made to our ancestors.

And Abraham is also the father of those who have been circumcised and who live following the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.

This means that not all of Abraham’s descendants are God’s true children. Abraham’s true children are those who become God’s children because of the promise God made to Abraham.

You belong to Christ, so you are Abraham’s descendants. You will inherit all of God’s blessings because of the promise God made to Abraham.

It was by faith that Noah heard God’s warnings about things he could not yet see. He obeyed God and built a large boat to save his family. By his faith, Noah showed that the world was wrong, and he became one of those who are made right with God through faith.

Melchizedek was not from the tribe of Levi, but he collected a tenth from Abraham. And he blessed Abraham, the man who had God’s promises.
