So those who are against the government are really against what God has commanded. And they will bring punishment on themselves.

They still come every day looking for me and want to learn my ways. They act just like a nation that does what is right, that obeys the commands of its God. They ask me to judge them fairly. They want God to be near them.

All of you must yield to the government rulers. No one rules unless God has given him the power to rule, and no one rules now without that power from God.

Those who do right do not have to fear the rulers; only those who do wrong fear them. Do you want to be unafraid of the rulers? Then do what is right, and they will praise you.

So you must yield to the government, not only because you might be punished, but because you know it is right.

So one of you will ask me: “Then why does God blame us for our sins? Who can fight his will?”

Remind the believers to yield to the authority of rulers and government leaders, to obey them, to be ready to do good,

My brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

For the Lord’s sake, yield to the people who have authority in this world: the king, who is the highest authority,
