Then I saw a scroll in the right hand of the One sitting on the throne. The scroll had writing on both sides and was kept closed with seven seals.

This vision is like the words of a book that is closed and sealed. You may give the book to someone who can read and tell that person to read it. But he will say, “I can’t read the book, because it is sealed.”

Look at the Lord’s scroll and read what is written there: None of these will be missing; none will be without its mate. God has given the command, so his Spirit will gather them together.

Make an agreement. Seal up the teaching while my followers are watching.

“The vision that has been shown to you about these evenings and mornings is true. But seal up the vision, because those things won’t happen for a long time.”

I looked up again and saw a flying scroll.

The angel was holding a small scroll open in his hand. He put his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land.

The One who sat on the throne looked like precious stones, like jasper and carnelian. All around the throne was a rainbow the color of an emerald.

These living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to the One who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever.

Then I heard all creatures in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea saying: “To the One who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever.”

The Lamb came and took the scroll from the right hand of the One sitting on the throne.

Then I watched while the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!”

They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us. Hide us from the face of the One who sits on the throne and from the anger of the Lamb!

When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
