But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I make a promise to the Lord, the God Most High, who made heaven and earth.

You are the only Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, with all the stars. You made the earth and everything on it, the seas and everything in them; you give life to everything. The heavenly army worships you.

Happy are those who are helped by the God of Jacob. Their hope is in the Lord their God.

The reason is that in six days the Lord made everything—the sky, the earth, the sea, and everything in them. On the seventh day he rested. So the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

I will lead you to the land that I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give you that land to own. I am the Lord.’ ”

And in the desert I swore to the Israelites that I would not bring them into the land I had given them. It is a fertile land, the best land in the world.

And in the desert I swore to the Israelites that I would scatter them among the nations and spread them among the countries,

When I had brought them into the land I promised to give them, they saw every high hill and every leafy tree. There they offered their sacrifices to gods. They brought offerings that made me angry and burned their incense and poured out their drink offerings.

When I bring you into the land of Israel, the land I promised your ancestors, you will know that I am the Lord.

Say to them: ‘This is what the Lord God says: When I chose Israel, I made a promise to the descendants of Jacob. I made myself known to them in Egypt, and I promised them, “I am the Lord your God.”

So this is what the Lord God says: I promise that the nations around you will also have to suffer insults.

You will divide the land equally. I promised to give it to your ancestors, so this land will belong to you as family property.

The man dressed in linen, who stood over the water, raised his hands toward heaven. And I heard him swear by the name of God who lives forever, “It will be for three and one-half years. The power of the holy people will finally be broken, and then all these things will come true.”

“Friends, why are you doing these things? We are only human beings like you. We are bringing you the Good News and are telling you to turn away from these worthless things and turn to the living God. He is the One who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and everything in them.

As I was going through your city, I saw the objects you worship. I found an altar that had these words written on it: to a god who is not known. You worship a god that you don’t know, and this is the God I am telling you about!

There are things about him that people cannot see—his eternal power and all the things that make him God. But since the beginning of the world those things have been easy to understand by what God has made. So people have no excuse for the bad things they do.

I raise my hand toward heaven and make this promise: As surely as I live forever,

God made a promise to Abraham. And as there is no one greater than God, he used himself when he swore to Abraham,

I am the One who lives; I was dead, but look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys to death and to the place of the dead.

The angel was holding a small scroll open in his hand. He put his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land.

He preached in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him praise, because the time has come for God to judge all people. So worship God who made the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the springs of water.”

The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air. Then a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying, “It is finished!”

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, because you made all things. Everything existed and was made, because you wanted it.”

These living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to the One who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever.
