The wicked are filled with terror where there had been nothing to fear. God will scatter the bones of your enemies. You will defeat them, because God has rejected them.

Terrible sounds fill their ears, and when things seem to be going well, robbers attack them.

But the wicked are filled with terror, because God is with those who do what is right.

“The ground is plowed and broken up. In the same way, our bones have been scattered at the grave.”

But the one who sits in heaven laughs; the Lord makes fun of them.

Let them be ashamed and embarrassed, because they were happy when I hurt. Cover them with shame and disgrace, because they thought they were better than I was.

Make those who want to kill me be ashamed and disgraced. Make those who plan to harm me turn back and run away.

People are trying to kill me. Shame them and disgrace them. People want to hurt me. Let them run away in disgrace.

It will be like waking from a dream. Lord, when you rise up, they will disappear.

Evil people run even though no one is chasing them, but good people are as brave as a lion.

“Soon I will make you the smallest of nations, and you will be greatly hated by everyone.

My people will be called rejected silver, because the Lord has rejected them.”

He cut down his Temple like a garden; he destroyed the meeting place. The Lord has made Jerusalem forget the set feasts and Sabbath days. He has rejected the king and the priest in his great anger.

I will lay the dead bodies of the Israelites in front of their idols, and I will scatter your bones around your altars.

I will be against you, and your enemies will defeat you. These people who hate you will rule over you, and you will run away even when no one is chasing you.

“ ‘Those of you who are left alive will lose their courage in the land of their enemies. They will be frightened by the sound of a leaf being blown by the wind. They will run as if someone were chasing them with a sword, and they will fall even when no one is chasing them.

All the Philistine soldiers panicked—those in the camp and those in the raiding party. The ground itself shook! God had caused the panic.
