You are not a God who is pleased with the wicked; you do not live with those who do evil.

I know, my God, that you test people’s hearts. You are happy when people do what is right. I was happy to give all these things, and I gave with an honest heart. Your people gathered here are happy to give to you, and I rejoice to see their giving.

No one who is dishonest will live in my house; no liars will stay around me.

The Lord tests those who do right, but he hates the wicked and those who love to hurt others.

Good people will praise his name; honest people will live in his presence.

I have kept quiet while you did these things, so you thought I was just like you. But I will scold you and accuse you to your face.

I have seen you in the Temple and have seen your strength and glory.

Lord, why do you reject me? Why do you hide from me?

They will say that the Lord is good. He is my Rock, and there is no wrong in him.

Crooked leaders cannot be your friends. They use the law to cause suffering.

Your eyes are too good to look at evil; you cannot stand to see those who do wrong. So how can you put up with those evil people? How can you be quiet when the wicked swallow up people who are better than they are?

You have tired the Lord with your words. You ask, “How have we tired him?” You did it by saying, “The Lord thinks anyone who does evil is good, and he is pleased with them.” Or you asked, “Where is the God who is fair?”

Jesus answered, “If people love me, they will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

Try to live in peace with all people, and try to live free from sin. Anyone whose life is not holy will never see the Lord.

But God made a promise to us, and we are waiting for a new heaven and a new earth where goodness lives.

The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because the glory of God is its light, and the Lamb is the city’s lamp.

Nothing unclean and no one who does shameful things or tells lies will ever go into it. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life will enter the city.
