God, you are my strength. Why have you rejected me? Why am I sad and troubled by my enemies?

“And you, my son Solomon, accept the God of your father. Serve him completely and willingly, because the Lord knows what is in everyone’s mind. He understands everything you think. If you go to him for help, you will get an answer. But if you turn away from him, he will leave you forever.

Lord God, my mighty savior, you protect me in battle.

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him, and he helps me. I am very happy, and I praise him with my song.

Set me free from the trap they set for me, because you are my protection.

My enemies’ insults make me feel as if my bones were broken. They are always saying, “Where is your God?”

I say to God, my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why am I sad and troubled by my enemies?”

But you have rejected us and shamed us. You don’t march with our armies anymore.

Do not reject me when I am old; do not leave me when my strength is gone.

“Will the Lord reject us forever? Will he never be kind to us again?

I have been weak and dying since I was young. I suffer from your terrors, and I am helpless.

The Lord won’t leave his people nor give up his children.

The Lord gives me strength and makes me sing; he has saved me. He is my God, and I will praise him. He is the God of my ancestors, and I will honor him.

But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will run and not need rest; they will walk and not become tired.

People will say about me, ‘Goodness and power come only from the Lord.’ ” Everyone who has been angry with him will come to him and be ashamed.

I will make my people strong, and they will live as I say,” says the Lord.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his great power.

I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me strength.
