He lifted me out of the pit of destruction, out of the sticky mud. He stood me on a rock and made my feet steady.
The ropes of death bound me, and the fear of the grave took hold of me. I was troubled and sad.
Guide my steps as you promised; don’t let any sin control me.

The earth trembled and shook. The foundations of the mountains began to shake. They trembled because the Lord was angry.
During danger he will keep me safe in his shelter. He will hide me in his Holy Tent, or he will keep me safe on a high mountain.
When people’s steps follow the Lord, God is pleased with their ways.
I call to you from the ends of the earth when I am afraid. Carry me away to a high mountain.
I’m sinking down into the mud, and there is nothing to stand on. I am in deep water, and the flood covers me.
You have given me many troubles and bad times, but you will give me life again. When I am almost dead, you will keep me alive.
You have great love for me. You have saved me from death.
They will be gathered together like prisoners thrown into a dungeon; they will be shut up in prison. After much time they will be punished.
As for you, because of the blood of the agreement with you I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.
The angels will throw the evil people into the blazing furnace, where people will cry and grind their teeth with pain.”
God raised Jesus from the dead and set him free from the pain of death, because death could not hold him.
