Now I will tell you what the Lord has declared: He said to me, “You are my son. Today I have become your father.

I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he sins, I will use other people to punish him. They will be my whips.

“But he is the only God. Who can come against him? He does anything he wants.

He put them in place forever and ever; he made a law that will never change.

I will make him my firstborn son, the greatest king on earth.

From the beginning I told you what would happen in the end. A long time ago I told you things that have not yet happened. When I plan something, it happens. What I want to do, I will do.

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

While Peter was talking, a bright cloud covered them. A voice came from the cloud and said, “This is my Son, whom I love, and I am very pleased with him. Listen to him!”

And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love, and I am very pleased with him.”

They shouted, “What do you want with us, Son of God? Did you come here to torture us before the right time?”

The Word became a human and lived among us. We saw his glory—the glory that belongs to the only Son of the Father—and he was full of grace and truth.

No one has ever seen God. But God the only Son is very close to the Father, and he has shown us what God is like.

“God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.

God has made this promise come true for us, his children, by raising Jesus from the dead. We read about this also in Psalm 2: ‘You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.’

While they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. The officer said, “Look, here is water. What is stopping me from being baptized?” [

But Christ is faithful as a Son over God’s house. And we are God’s house if we confidently maintain our hope.

So also Christ did not choose himself to have the honor of being a high priest, but God chose him. God said to him, “You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.”

Even though Jesus was the Son of God, he learned obedience by what he suffered.
