You save the humble, but you bring down those who are proud.

The wicked people are too proud. They do not look for God; there is no room for God in their thoughts.

If anyone secretly says things against his neighbor, I will stop him. I will not allow people to be proud and look down on others.

They are selfish and brag about themselves.

Lord, rise up, face the enemy, and throw them down. Save me from the wicked with your sword.

People who do what is right may have many problems, but the Lord will solve them all.

This poor man called, and the Lord heard him and saved him from all his troubles.

Lord, because I am poor and helpless, please remember me. You are my helper and savior. My God, do not wait.

But those who have troubles will not be forgotten. The hopes of the poor will never die.

Some people think they are pure, but they are not really free from evil.

When the Lord finishes doing what he planned to Mount Zion and Jerusalem, he will punish Assyria. The king of Assyria is very proud, and his pride has made him do these evil things, so God will punish him.

The look on their faces shows they are guilty; like the people of Sodom, they are proud of their sin. They don’t care who sees it. How terrible it will be for them, because they have brought much trouble on themselves.

And this is the reason: God lives forever and is holy. He is high and lifted up. He says, “I live in a high and holy place, but I also live with people who are sad and humble. I give new life to those who are humble and to those whose hearts are broken.

My hand made all things. All things are here because I made them,” says the Lord. “These are the people I am pleased with: those who are not proud or stubborn and who fear my word.

My people will be destroyed, because they have no knowledge. You have refused to learn, so I will refuse to let you be priests to me. You have forgotten the teachings of your God, so I will forget your children.

I tell you, when this man went home, he was right with God, but the Pharisee was not. All who make themselves great will be made humble, but all who make themselves humble will be made great.”

You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. You know that Christ was rich, but for you he became poor so that by his becoming poor you might become rich.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! God chose the poor in the world to be rich with faith and to receive the kingdom God promised to those who love him.
