Lord, I look upward to you, you who live in heaven.

I look up to the hills, but where does my help come from?

God, I look to you for help. I trust in you, Lord. Don’t let me die.

My eyes are always looking to the Lord for help. He will keep me from any traps.

But the one who sits in heaven laughs; the Lord makes fun of them.

“The tax collector, standing at a distance, would not even look up to heaven. But he beat on his chest because he was so sad. He said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord sits on his throne in heaven. He sees what people do; he keeps his eye on them.

So when you pray, you should pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name always be kept holy.

Lord, remember David and all his suffering.

When I was in trouble, I called to the Lord, and he answered me.

And this is the reason: God lives forever and is holy. He is high and lifted up. He says, “I live in a high and holy place, but I also live with people who are sad and humble. I give new life to those who are humble and to those whose hearts are broken.

Lord, I am in great trouble, so I call out to you.

When the Lord brought the prisoners back to Jerusalem, it seemed as if we were dreaming.

Those who trust the Lord are like Mount Zion, which sits unmoved forever.

Our God is in heaven. He does what he pleases.

If the Lord doesn’t build the house, the builders are working for nothing. If the Lord doesn’t guard the city, the guards are watching for nothing.

This is what the Lord says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. So do you think you can build a house for me? Do I need a place to rest?

Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, you who serve at night in the Temple of the Lord.

It is good and pleasant when God’s people live together in peace!

Happy are those who respect the Lord and obey him.

Lord, my heart is not proud; I don’t look down on others. I don’t do great things, and I can’t do miracles.

I was happy when they said to me, “Let’s go to the Temple of the Lord.”

Hear my prayers and the prayers of your people Israel when we pray facing this place. Hear from your home in heaven, and when you hear, forgive us.
