I wear myself out with desire for your laws all the time.

I want more than anything to be in the courtyards of the Lord’s Temple. My whole being wants to be with the living God.

God, you are my God. I search for you. I thirst for you like someone in a dry, empty land where there is no water.

I am nearly out of breath. I really want to learn your commands.

I want you to save me, Lord. I love your teachings.

How I want to follow your orders. Give me life because of your goodness.

A friend loves you all the time, and a brother helps in time of trouble.

They will not find joy in the Almighty, even though they call out to God all the time.

Promise me, women of Jerusalem, if you find my lover, tell him I am weak with love.

It is sad not to get what you hoped for. But wishes that come true are like eating fruit from the tree of life.

Happy are those who do right, who do what is fair at all times.
