Their houses will be full of wealth and riches, and their goodness will continue forever.

He will take all power away from the wicked, but the power of good people will grow.

There is a time to look for something and a time to stop looking for it. There is a time to keep things and a time to throw things away.

But a good leader plans to do good, and those good things make him a good leader.

if you feed those who are hungry and take care of the needs of those who are troubled, then your light will shine in the darkness, and you will be bright like sunshine at noon.

Share your food with the hungry and bring poor, homeless people into your own homes. When you see someone who has no clothes, give him yours, and don’t refuse to help your own relatives.

Your giving should be done in secret. Your Father can see what is done in secret, and he will reward you.

You will always have the poor with you, and you can help them anytime you want. But you will not always have me.

So give what is in your dishes to the poor, and then you will be fully clean.

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Get for yourselves purses that will not wear out, the treasure in heaven that never runs out, where thieves can’t steal and moths can’t destroy.

“I tell you, make friends for yourselves using worldly riches so that when those riches are gone, you will be welcomed in those homes that continue forever.

When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “There is still one more thing you need to do. Sell everything you have and give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”

Since he was the one who kept the money box, some of the followers thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the feast or to give something to the poor.

I showed you in all things that you should work as I did and help the weak. I taught you to remember the words Jesus said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

and gave it to the apostles. Then the money was given to anyone who needed it.

Share with God’s people who need help. Bring strangers in need into your homes.

You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. You know that Christ was rich, but for you he became poor so that by his becoming poor you might become rich.

There will always be poor people in the land, so I command you to give freely to your neighbors and to the poor and needy in your land.

Give them some of your flock, your grain, and your wine, giving to them as the Lord has given to you.

Give the coat back at sunset, because your neighbor needs that coat to sleep in, and he will be grateful to you. And the Lord your God will see that you have done a good thing.

Tell the rich people to do good, to be rich in doing good deeds, to be generous and ready to share.

Do not forget to do good to others, and share with them, because such sacrifices please God.

God is fair; he will not forget the work you did and the love you showed for him by helping his people. And he will remember that you are still helping them.

Let whoever is doing evil continue to do evil. Let whoever is unclean continue to be unclean. Let whoever is doing right continue to do right. Let whoever is holy continue to be holy.”

Hannah prayed: “The Lord has filled my heart with joy; I feel very strong in the Lord. I can laugh at my enemies; I am glad because you have helped me!

“So the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I promised that your family and your ancestor’s family would serve me always.’ But now the Lord says: ‘This must stop! I will honor those who honor me, but I will dishonor those who ignore me.
