The Lord raises the poor up from the dust, and he lifts the needy from the ashes. He lets the poor sit with princes and receive a throne of honor. “The foundations of the earth belong to the Lord, and the Lord set the world upon them.

They send out their children like a flock; their little ones dance about.

But God led his people out like sheep and he guided them like a flock through the desert.

He makes the humble person important and lifts the sad to places of safety.

We say they are happy because they did not give up. You have heard about Job’s patience, and you know the Lord’s purpose for him in the end. You know the Lord is full of mercy and is kind.

Old people are proud of their grandchildren, and children are proud of their parents.

After this, Job lived one hundred forty years. He lived to see his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Where you began will seem unimportant, because your future will be so successful.

The Lord was kind to Hannah, so she became the mother of three sons and two daughters. And the boy Samuel grew up serving the Lord.

He said to Joseph, “I thought I would never see you alive again, and now God has let me see you and also your children.”

May you see your grandchildren. Let there be peace in Israel.

But God saves those who suffer through their suffering; he gets them to listen through their pain.

The Lord says, “The time is coming when I will help the families of Israel and Judah and their children and animals to grow.
