Don’t answer fools when they speak foolishly, or you will be just like them.

He followed the advice of the young men and said to the people, “My father forced you to work hard, but I will make you work even harder. My father beat you with whips, but I will beat you with whips that have sharp points.”

When a wise person takes a foolish person to court, the fool only shouts or laughs, and there is no peace.

The people were silent. They didn’t answer the commander at all, because King Hezekiah had ordered, “Don’t answer him.”

“Don’t give holy things to dogs, and don’t throw your pearls before pigs. Pigs will only trample on them, and dogs will turn to attack you.

Do not do wrong to repay a wrong, and do not insult to repay an insult. But repay with a blessing, because you yourselves were called to do this so that you might receive a blessing.

Not even the archangel Michael, when he argued with the devil about who would have the body of Moses, dared to judge the devil guilty. Instead, he said, “The Lord punish you.”
