Their own words will be used against them. All who see them will shake their heads.

The wise do what they are told, but a talkative fool will be ruined.

The good person is saved from trouble; it comes to the wicked instead.

Wise people use knowledge when they speak, but fools pour out foolishness.

What you say can mean life or death. Those who speak with care will be rewarded.

Those who are careful about what they say keep themselves out of trouble.

You might get trapped by what you say; you might be caught by your own words.

It is good to grab the one and not let go of the other; those who honor God will hold them both.

Then the king commanded that the men who had accused Daniel be brought to the lions’ den. They, their wives, and their children were thrown into the den. The lions grabbed them before they hit the floor of the den and crushed their bones.

All the people answered, “We and our children will be responsible for his death.”

So the Lord knows how to save those who serve him when troubles come. He will hold evil people and punish them, while waiting for the Judgment Day.
