My dear friends, you have always obeyed God when I was with you. It is even more important that you obey now while I am away from you. Keep on working to complete your salvation with fear and trembling,

Now let us make an agreement before our God. We will send away all these women and their children as you and those who respect the commands of our God advise. Let it be done to obey God’s Teachings.

Some people, by always continuing to do good, live for God’s glory, for honor, and for life that has no end. God will give them life forever.

So my dear brothers and sisters, stand strong. Do not let anything move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your work in the Lord is never wasted.

So when I came to you, I was weak and fearful and trembling.

I am not trying to make you feel ashamed. I am writing this to give you a warning as my own dear children.

And his love for you is stronger when he remembers that you were all ready to obey. You welcomed him with respect and fear.

Slaves, obey your masters here on earth with fear and respect and from a sincere heart, just as you obey Christ.

Only one thing concerns me: Be sure that you live in a way that brings honor to the Good News of Christ. Then whether I come and visit you or am away from you, I will hear that you are standing strong with one purpose, that you work together as one for the faith of the Good News,

God gave you the honor not only of believing in Christ but also of suffering for him, both of which bring glory to Christ.

I thank God for the help you gave me while I preached the Good News—help you gave from the first day you believed until now.

God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure he will continue it until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again.

I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon. I will be happy to learn how you are.

My dear brothers and sisters, I love you and want to see you. You bring me joy and make me proud of you, so stand strong in the Lord as I have told you.

You Philippians remember when I first preached the Good News there. When I left Macedonia, you were the only church that gave me help.

We continually recall before God our Father the things you have done because of your faith and the work you have done because of your love. And we thank him that you continue to be strong because of your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

So I patiently accept all these troubles so that those whom God has chosen can have the salvation that is in Christ Jesus. With that salvation comes glory that never ends.

We are surrounded by a great cloud of people whose lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is before us and never give up. We should remove from our lives anything that would get in the way and the sin that so easily holds us back.

Now, since God has left us the promise that we may enter his rest, let us be very careful so none of you will fail to enter.

Let us try as hard as we can to enter God’s rest so that no one will fail by following the example of those who refused to obey.

And because his obedience was perfect, he was able to give eternal salvation to all who obey him.

Dear friends, you are like foreigners and strangers in this world. I beg you to avoid the evil things your bodies want to do that fight against your soul.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Glory be to him now and forever! Amen.
