“Tell the Israelites this: ‘If you or your descendants become unclean because of a dead body, or if you are away on a trip during the Passover, you must still celebrate the Lord’s Passover.

In the second month a large crowd came together in Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Although many people from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun had not purified themselves for the feast, they ate the Passover even though it was against the law. So Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, “Lord, you are good. You are the Lord, the God of our ancestors. Please forgive all those who try to obey you even if they did not make themselves clean as the rules of the Temple command.”

King Hezekiah, his officers, and all the people in Jerusalem agreed to celebrate the Passover in the second month.

But celebrate it at twilight on the fourteenth day of the second month. Eat the lamb with bitter herbs and bread made without yeast.

Then the Lord said to Moses,

leave your gift there at the altar. Go and make peace with that person, and then come and offer your gift.

It was almost time for the Passover Feast. Many from the country went up to Jerusalem before the Passover to do the special things to make themselves pure.

Look into your own hearts before you eat the bread and drink the cup,
