And now you will be cursed in your work with the ground, the same ground where your brother’s blood fell and where your hands killed him.

Kohath’s son was Amminadab. Amminadab’s son was Korah. Korah’s son was Assir.

When Moses finished saying these things, the ground under the men split open.

They were buried alive, going to the place of the dead, and everything they owned went with them. Then the earth covered them. They died and were gone from the community.

But 14,700 people died from that sickness, in addition to those who died because of Korah.

The earth opened up and swallowed them and Korah; they died at the same time the fire burned up the 250 men. This was a warning,

but the children of Korah did not die.

“Our father died in the desert. He was not one of Korah’s followers who came together against the Lord, but he died because of his own sin, and he had no sons.

“Don’t let the Kohathites be cut off from the Levites.

They did not see what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the ground opened up and swallowed them, their families, their tents, and everyone who stood with them in Israel.

But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that came from the mouth of the dragon.
