But the Lord became very angry, and he gave the people a terrible sickness that came while the meat was still in their mouths.

This sickness had killed twenty-four thousand people.

But 14,700 people died from that sickness, in addition to those who died because of Korah.

The Lord will punish you with boils like those the Egyptians had. You will have bad growths, sores, and itches that can’t be cured.

They cannot stand to let go of it; they keep it in their mouths.

When the wicked fill their stomachs, God will send his burning anger against them, and blows of punishment will fall on them like rain.

So the people ate and became very full. God had given them what they wanted.

So Moses obeyed what the Lord commanded him.

He sent the east wind from heaven and led the south wind by his power.
