The Lord is good, giving protection in times of trouble. He knows who trusts in him.

Thank the Lord because he is good. His love continues forever.

The men from the tribes of Manasseh, Reuben, and Gad prayed to God during the war, asking him to help them. So he helped them because they trusted him. He handed over to them the Hagrites and all those who were with them.

So at that time the people of Israel were defeated. And the people of Judah won, because they depended on the Lord, the God of their ancestors.

Hezekiah says to you, ‘The Lord our God will save us from the king of Assyria,’ but he is fooling you. If you stay in Jerusalem, you will die from hunger and thirst.

Then the Lord sent an angel who killed all the soldiers, leaders, and officers in the camp of the king of Assyria. So the king went back to his own country in disgrace. When he went into the temple of his god, some of his own sons killed him with a sword.

He only has men, but we have the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” The people were encouraged by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

With praise and thanksgiving, they sang to the Lord: “He is good; his love for Israel continues forever.” And then all the people shouted loudly, “Praise the Lord! The foundation of his Temple has been laid.”

This is because the Lord takes care of his people, but the wicked will be destroyed.

The Lord is good. His love is forever, and his loyalty goes on and on.

May the Lord answer you in times of trouble. May the God of Jacob protect you.

The Lord is good and right; he points sinners to the right way.

During danger he will keep me safe in his shelter. He will hide me in his Holy Tent, or he will keep me safe on a high mountain.

The Lord saves good people; he is their strength in times of trouble.

The Lord helps them and saves them; he saves them from the wicked, because they trust in him for protection.

So we will not be afraid even if the earth shakes, or the mountains fall into the sea,

Call to me in times of trouble. I will save you, and you will honor me.”

But I will sing about your strength. In the morning I will sing about your love. You are my defender, my place of safety in times of trouble.

Be my place of safety where I can always come. Give the command to save me, because you are my rock and my strong, walled city.

I call to you in times of trouble, because you will answer me.

Those who know the Lord trust him, because he will not leave those who come to him.

They will call to me, and I will answer them. I will be with them in trouble; I will rescue them and honor them.

The Lord is like a strong tower; those who do right can run to him for safety.

You protect the poor; you protect the helpless when they are in danger. You are like a shelter from storms, like shade that protects them from the heat. The cruel people attack like a rainstorm beating against the wall,

Then each ruler will be like a shelter from the wind, like a safe place in a storm, like streams of water in a dry land, like a cool shadow from a large rock in a hot land.

Who among you fears the Lord and obeys his servant? That person may walk in the dark and have no light. Then let him trust in the Lord and yet depend on his God.

Lord, you are my strength and my protection, my safe place in times of trouble. The nations will come to you from all over the world and say, “Our ancestors had only false gods, useless idols that didn’t help them.

Don’t be a terror to me. I run to you for safety in times of trouble.

“This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I sent the people of Judah out of their country to live in the country of Babylon. I think of those people as good, like these good figs.

There will be sounds of joy and gladness and the happy sounds of brides and bridegrooms. There will be the sounds of people bringing to the Temple of the Lord their offerings of thanks to the Lord. They will say, ‘Praise the Lord All-Powerful, because the Lord is good! His love continues forever!’ They will say this because I will again do good things for Judah, as I did in the beginning,” says the Lord.

The Lord is good to those who hope in him, to those who seek him.

Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Their God has sent his angel and saved his servants from the fire! These three men trusted their God and refused to obey my command. They were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god other than their own.

King Darius was very happy and told his servants to lift Daniel out of the lions’ den. So they lifted him out and did not find any injury on him, because Daniel had trusted in his God.

The Lord will roar like a lion from Jerusalem; his loud voice will thunder from that city, and the sky and the earth will shake. But the Lord will be a safe place for his people, a strong place of safety for the people of Israel.

But I will leave in the city the humble and those who are not proud, and they will trust in the Lord.

He trusts in God, so let God save him now, if God really wants him. He himself said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ”

Then I will tell them clearly, ‘Get away from me, you who do evil. I never knew you.’

“I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep, and my sheep know me,

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

So you see that God is kind and also very strict. He punishes those who stop following him. But God is kind to you, if you continue following in his kindness. If you do not, you will be cut off from the tree.

But now you know the true God. Really, it is God who knows you. So why do you turn back to those weak and useless rules you followed before? Do you want to be slaves to those things again?

But God’s strong foundation continues to stand. These words are written on the seal: “The Lord knows those who belong to him,” and “Everyone who wants to belong to the Lord must stop doing wrong.”
