Now hear what the Lord says: “Get up; plead your case in front of the mountains; let the hills hear your story.

The God of gods, the Lord, speaks. He calls the earth from the rising to the setting sun.

He calls to the sky above and to the earth that he might judge his people.

Heaven and earth, listen, because the Lord is speaking: “I raised my children and helped them grow up, but they have turned against me.

The Lord takes his place in court and stands to judge the people.

Listen and pay attention. Don’t be too proud, because the Lord has spoken to you.

Land, land, land of Judah, hear the word of the Lord!

“Human, prophesy to the mountains of Israel and say: ‘Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord.

“ ‘But you, mountains of Israel, will grow branches and fruit for my people, who will soon come home.

He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

Say, ‘Mountains of Israel, listen to the word of the Lord God. The Lord God says this to the mountains, the hills, the ravines, and the valleys: I will bring a sword against you, and I will destroy your places of idol worship.

Listen to this word that the Lord has spoken against you, people of Israel, against the whole family he brought out of Egypt.

Hear this, all you nations; listen, earth and all you who live on it. The Lord God will be a witness against you, the Lord from his Holy Temple.

The mountains will melt under him, and the valleys will crack open, like wax near a fire, like water running down a hillside.

In my anger and rage, I will pay back the nations that have not listened.”

Mountains, listen to the Lord’s legal case. Foundations of the earth, listen. The Lord has a legal case against his people, and he will accuse Israel.”

But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if my followers didn’t say these things, then the stones would cry out.”

Hear, heavens, and I will speak. Listen, earth, to what I say.

If you do, I ask heaven and earth to speak against you this day that you will quickly be removed from this land that you are crossing the Jordan River to take. You will not live there long after that, but you will be completely destroyed.

Now, stand there, and I will remind you of all the good things the Lord did for you and your ancestors.

Samuel said to Saul, “Stop! Let me tell you what the Lord said to me last night.” Saul answered, “Tell me.”
