When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he went back to Galilee.

John the Baptist was in prison, but he heard about what the Christ was doing. So John sent some of his followers to Jesus.

Sometime before this, Herod had arrested John, tied him up, and put him into prison. Herod did this because of Herodias, who had been the wife of Philip, Herod’s brother.

After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, preaching the Good News from God.

Herod himself had ordered his soldiers to arrest John and put him in prison in order to please his wife, Herodias. She had been the wife of Philip, Herod’s brother, but then Herod had married her.

They were insisting, saying, “But Jesus makes trouble with the people, teaching all around Judea. He began in Galilee, and now he is here.”

So Herod did something even worse: He put John in prison.

Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Holy Spirit, and stories about him spread all through the area.

Jesus went to Capernaum, a city in Galilee, and on the Sabbath day, he taught the people.

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.”

So in Cana of Galilee Jesus did his first miracle. There he showed his glory, and his followers believed in him.

(This was before John was put into prison.)

Two days later, Jesus left and went to Galilee.

That was the second miracle Jesus did after coming from Judea to Galilee.
