The Spirit of the Lord may carry you to some other place after I leave. If I go tell King Ahab you are here, and he comes and doesn’t find you, he will kill me! I have followed the Lord since I was a boy.

In his eighth year as king while he was still young, Josiah began to obey the God of his ancestor David. In his twelfth year as king, Josiah began to remove from Judah and Jerusalem the gods, the places for worshiping gods, the Asherah idols, and the wooden and metal idols.

Remember your Creator while you are young, before the days of trouble come and the years when you say, “I find no pleasure in them.”

“Later, that same servant found another servant who owed him a few dollars. The servant grabbed him around the neck and said, ‘Pay me the money you owe me!’

“The kingdom of heaven is like a person who owned some land. One morning, he went out very early to hire some people to work in his vineyard.

But the man who owned the vineyard said to one of those workers, ‘Friend, I am being fair to you. You agreed to work for one coin.

About nine o’clock the man went to the marketplace and saw some other people standing there, doing nothing.

“When the workers who were hired at five o’clock came to get their pay, each received one coin.

Show me a coin used for paying the tax.” So the men showed him a coin.

Jesus said to his followers, “There are many people to harvest but only a few workers to help harvest them.

Should we pay them, or not?” But knowing what these men were really trying to do, Jesus said to them, “Why are you trying to trap me? Bring me a coin to look at.”

John will be a great man for the Lord. He will never drink wine or beer, and even from birth, he will be filled with the Holy Spirit.

The next day, the Samaritan brought out two coins, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take care of this man. If you spend more money on him, I will pay it back to you when I come again.’ ”

“Show me a coin. Whose image and name are on it?” They said, “Caesar’s.”

Since you were a child you have known the Holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise. And that wisdom leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Then I heard something that sounded like a voice coming from the middle of the four living creatures. The voice said, “A quart of wheat for a day’s pay, and three quarts of barley for a day’s pay, and do not damage the olive oil and wine!”

But Samuel obeyed the Lord. As a boy he wore a linen holy vest.

The boy Samuel grew physically. He pleased the Lord and the people.

The boy Samuel served the Lord under Eli. In those days the Lord did not speak directly to people very often; there were very few visions.

And the Lord continued to show himself at Shiloh, and he showed himself to Samuel through his word.
