Ezra had worked hard to know and obey the Teachings of the Lord and to teach his rules and commands to the Israelites.

Now I, King Artaxerxes, give this order to all the men in charge of the treasury of Trans-Euphrates: Give Ezra, a priest and a teacher of the Law of the God of heaven, whatever he asks for.

This Ezra came to Jerusalem from Babylon. He was a teacher and knew well the Teachings of Moses that had been given by the Lord, the God of Israel. Ezra received everything he asked for from the king, because the Lord his God was helping him.

A good person gives life to others; the wise person teaches others how to live.

Wise people use their words to spread knowledge, but there is no knowledge in the thoughts of fools.

Spoken words can be like deep water, but wisdom is like a flowing stream.

The mandrake flowers give their sweet smell, and all the best fruits are at our gates. I have saved them for you, my lover, the old delights and the new.

Good people have good things in their hearts, and so they say good things. But evil people have evil in their hearts, so they say evil things.

Jesus asked his followers, “Do you understand all these things?” They answered, “Yes, we understand.”

When Jesus finished teaching with these stories, he left there.

So I tell you this: I am sending to you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify. Some of them you will beat in your synagogues and chase from town to town.

So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

This is why in his wisdom God said, ‘I will send prophets and apostles to them. They will kill some, and they will treat others cruelly.’

“I give you a new command: Love each other. You must love each other as I have loved you.

We have much sadness, but we are always rejoicing. We are poor, but we are making many people rich in faith. We have nothing, but really we have everything.

If you read what I wrote then, you can see that I truly understand the secret about the Christ.

I am the least important of all God’s people, but God gave me this gift—to tell those who are not Jews the Good News about the riches of Christ, which are too great to understand fully.

You learned about God’s grace from Epaphras, whom we love. He works together with us and is a faithful servant of Christ for us.

Let the teaching of Christ live in you richly. Use all wisdom to teach and instruct each other by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

But an elder must not be a new believer, or he might be too proud of himself and be judged guilty just as the devil was.

By holding on to the trustworthy word just as we teach it, overseers can help people by using true teaching, and they can show those who are against the true teaching that they are wrong.
