Jesus told them plainly what would happen. Then Peter took Jesus aside and began to tell him not to talk like that.

Peter took Jesus aside and told him not to talk like that. He said, “God save you from those things, Lord! Those things will never happen to you!”

Jesus was at the back of the boat, sleeping with his head on a cushion. His followers woke him and said, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are drowning!”

But Martha was busy with all the work to be done. She went in and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me alone to do all the work? Tell her to help me.”

Some people gathered around him and said, “How long will you make us wonder about you? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.”

So then Jesus said plainly, “Lazarus is dead.

“I have told you these things indirectly in stories. But the time will come when I will not use stories like that to tell you things; I will speak to you in plain words about the Father.

Then the followers of Jesus said, “You are speaking clearly to us now and are not using stories that are hard to understand.

Jesus answered, “I have spoken openly to everyone. I have always taught in synagogues and in the Temple, where all the Jews come together. I never said anything in secret.
