Jesus said to them, “Be careful! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”

Later, the Jewish leaders sent some Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to trap him in saying something wrong.

“ ‘Every grain offering you bring to the Lord must be made without yeast, because you must not burn any yeast or honey in an offering made by fire to the Lord.

Don’t stop listening to correction, my child, or you will forget what you have already learned.

In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, I give you a command. Christ Jesus made the good confession when he stood before Pontius Pilate.

At that time Herod, the ruler of Galilee, heard the reports about Jesus.

Sometime before this, Herod had arrested John, tied him up, and put him into prison. Herod did this because of Herodias, who had been the wife of Philip, Herod’s brother.

On Herod’s birthday, the daughter of Herodias danced for Herod and his guests, and she pleased him.

His followers had only one loaf of bread with them in the boat; they had forgotten to bring more.

His followers discussed the meaning of this, saying, “He said this because we have no bread.”
