Mark 2:1

A few days later, when Jesus came back to Capernaum, the news spread that he was at home.

He left Nazareth and went to live in Capernaum, a town near Lake Galilee, in the area near Zebulun and Naphtali.

Jesus got into a boat and went back across the lake to his own town.

The man left there, but he began to tell everyone that Jesus had healed him, and so he spread the news about Jesus. As a result, Jesus could not enter a town if people saw him. He stayed in places where nobody lived, but people came to him from everywhere.

Many people gathered together so that there was no room in the house, not even outside the door. And Jesus was teaching them God’s message.

Then Jesus went home, but again a crowd gathered. There were so many people that Jesus and his followers could not eat.

When Jesus left the people and went into the house, his followers asked him about this story.

Jesus left that place and went to the area around Tyre. When he went into a house, he did not want anyone to know he was there, but he could not stay hidden.

When Jesus went into the house, his followers began asking him privately, “Why couldn’t we force that evil spirit out?”

Jesus said to them, “I know that you will tell me the old saying: ‘Doctor, heal yourself.’ You want to say, ‘We heard about the things you did in Capernaum. Do those things here in your own town!’ ”

Just then, some men were carrying on a mat a man who was paralyzed. They tried to bring him in and put him down before Jesus.

When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to Jesus and begged him to come to Capernaum and heal his son, because his son was almost dead.

When they heard this noise, a crowd came together. They were all surprised, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
