Some Pharisees came to Jesus and tried to trick him. They asked, “Is it right for a man to divorce his wife?”

The Lord God of Israel says, “I hate divorce. And I hate people who do cruel things as easily as they put on clothes,” says the Lord All-Powerful. So be careful. And do not break your trust.

Then his followers came to him and asked, “Do you know that the Pharisees are angry because of what you said?”

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus, wanting to trick him. So they asked him to show them a miracle from God.

Some Pharisees came to Jesus and tried to trick him. They asked, “Is it right for a man to divorce his wife for any reason he chooses?”

One Pharisee, who was an expert on the law of Moses, asked Jesus this question to test him:

“How terrible for you, teachers of the law and Pharisees! You are hypocrites! You close the door for people to enter the kingdom of heaven. You yourselves don’t enter, and you stop others who are trying to enter. [

But the Pharisees said, “The prince of demons is the one that gives him power to force demons out.”

Then Jesus left that place and went into the area of Judea and across the Jordan River. Again, crowds came to him, and he taught them as he usually did.

Jesus answered, “What did Moses command you to do?”

The Pharisees came to Jesus and began to ask him questions. Hoping to trap him, they asked Jesus for a miracle from God.

Jesus warned them, “Be careful! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”

The Lord said to him, “You Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are full of greed and evil.

The Pharisees, who loved money, were listening to all these things and made fun of Jesus.

But the Pharisees and the men who taught the law for the Pharisees began to complain to Jesus’ followers, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

The teachers of the law and the Pharisees were watching closely to see if Jesus would heal on the Sabbath day so they could accuse him.

But the Pharisees and experts on the law refused to accept God’s plan for themselves; they did not let John baptize them.)

Then the leading priests and Pharisees called a meeting of the council. They asked, “What should we do? This man is doing many miracles.

But the leading priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where Jesus was, he must tell them. Then they could arrest him.

The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering these things about Jesus. So the leading priests and the Pharisees sent some Temple guards to arrest him.

Have any of the leaders or the Pharisees believed in him? No!

They were asking this to trick Jesus so that they could have some charge against him. But Jesus bent over and started writing on the ground with his finger.

We must not test Christ as some of them did; they were killed by snakes.
