“Whoever is not with me is against me. Whoever does not work with me is working against me.

When Jesus and his followers came to Capernaum, the men who collected the Temple tax came to Peter. They asked, “Does your teacher pay the Temple tax?”

Peter answered, “Other people pay the taxes.” Jesus said to Peter, “Then the children of the king don’t have to pay taxes.

Then John said, “Teacher, we saw someone using your name to force demons out of a person. We told him to stop, because he does not belong to our group.”

I tell you the truth, whoever gives you a drink of water because you belong to the Christ will truly get his reward.

“Anyone who is not with me is against me, and anyone who does not work with me is working against me.

“No servant can serve two masters. The servant will hate one master and love the other, or will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly riches.”

So I want you to understand that no one who is speaking with the help of God’s Spirit says, “Jesus be cursed.” And no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” without the help of the Holy Spirit.

The men of Israel tasted the bread, but they did not ask the Lord what to do.
