Then Jesus answered John’s followers, “Go tell John what you saw and heard here. The blind can see, the crippled can walk, and people with skin diseases are healed. The deaf can hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is preached to the poor.

“The Lord has put his Spirit in me, because he appointed me to tell the Good News to the poor. He has sent me to tell the captives they are free and to tell the blind that they can see again. God sent me to free those who have been treated unfairly

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! God chose the poor in the world to be rich with faith and to receive the kingdom God promised to those who love him.

The blind and crippled people came to Jesus in the Temple, and he healed them.

to open their eyes so that they may turn away from darkness to the light, away from the power of Satan and to God. Then their sins can be forgiven, and they can have a place with those people who have been made holy by believing in me.’

At that time, Jesus healed many people of their sicknesses, diseases, and evil spirits, and he gave sight to many blind people.

But I will leave in the city the humble and those who are not proud, and they will trust in the Lord.

Look, I will soon bring Israel from the country in the north, and I will gather them from the faraway places on earth. Some of the people are blind and crippled. Some of the women are pregnant, and some are ready to give birth. A great many people will come back.

Bring out the people who have eyes but don’t see and those who have ears but don’t hear.

Then I will lead the blind along a way they never knew; I will guide them along paths they have not known. I will make the darkness become light for them, and the rough ground smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not leave my people.

The Lord gives sight to the blind. The Lord lifts up people who are in trouble. The Lord loves those who do right.

I was eyes for the blind and feet for the lame.

Many of these people had evil spirits in them, but Philip made the evil spirits leave. The spirits made a loud noise when they came out. Philip also healed many weak and crippled people there.

But Nathanael said to Philip, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Philip answered, “Come and see.”

The blind can see, the crippled can walk, and people with skin diseases are healed. The deaf can hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is preached to the poor.

Those who do not stumble in their faith because of me are blessed!”
