Happy are those who think about the poor. When trouble comes, the Lord will save them.

“You must not tell lies about your neighbor.

But if he is caught, he must pay back seven times what he stole, and it may cost him everything he owns.

For example, they may return what somebody gave them as a promise to repay a loan, or pay back what they stole. If they live by the rules that give life and do not sin, then they will surely live, and they will not die.

and must admit the wrong that has been done. The person must fully pay for the wrong that has been done, adding one-fifth to it, and giving it to the person who was wronged.

So give what is in your dishes to the poor, and then you will be fully clean.

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Get for yourselves purses that will not wear out, the treasure in heaven that never runs out, where thieves can’t steal and moths can’t destroy.

“I tell you, make friends for yourselves using worldly riches so that when those riches are gone, you will be welcomed in those homes that continue forever.

All the people saw this and began to complain, “Jesus is staying with a sinner!”

When the Lord saw her, he felt very sorry for her and said, “Don’t cry.”

and sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are you the One who is to come, or should we wait for someone else?”

Here I am. If I have done anything wrong, you must testify against me before the Lord and his appointed king. Did I steal anyone’s ox or donkey? Did I hurt or cheat anyone? Did I ever secretly accept money to pretend not to see something wrong? If I did any of these things, I will make it right.”
