“I tell you, make friends for yourselves using worldly riches so that when those riches are gone, you will be welcomed in those homes that continue forever.

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, then go and sell your possessions and give the money to the poor. If you do this, you will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”

“No one can serve two masters. The person will hate one master and love the other, or will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly riches.

So, O king, please accept my advice. Stop sinning and do what is right. Stop doing wicked things and be kind to the poor. Then you might continue to be successful.”

If you cannot be trusted with worldly riches, then who will trust you with true riches?

Being kind to the poor is like lending to the Lord; he will reward you for what you have done.

Then you will be blessed, because they have nothing and cannot pay you back. But you will be repaid when the good people rise from the dead.”

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Get for yourselves purses that will not wear out, the treasure in heaven that never runs out, where thieves can’t steal and moths can’t destroy.

So give what is in your dishes to the poor, and then you will be fully clean.

We have small troubles for a while now, but they are helping us gain an eternal glory that is much greater than the troubles.

He said, ‘Cornelius, God has heard your prayer and has seen that you give to the poor and remembers you.

“Don’t store treasures for yourselves here on earth where moths and rust will destroy them and thieves can break in and steal them.

Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the Lord Jesus Christ with his mercy to give you life forever.

Cornelius stared at the angel. He became afraid and said, “What do you want, Lord?” The angel said, “God has heard your prayers. He has seen that you give to the poor, and he remembers you.

Invest what you have, because after a while you will get a return.

Wealth can vanish in the wink of an eye. It can seem to grow wings and fly away like an eagle.

I will not accuse forever, nor will I always be angry, because then human life would grow weak. Human beings, whom I created, would die.

My body and my mind may become weak, but God is my strength. He is mine forever.

I know what I’ll do so that when I lose my job people will welcome me into their homes.’

Wise people are rewarded with wealth, but fools only get more foolishness.
