It is not good for a judge to take sides, but some will sin for only a piece of bread.

They are like hungry dogs that are never satisfied. They are like shepherds who don’t know what they are doing. They all have gone their own way; all they want to do is satisfy themselves.

For handfuls of barley and pieces of bread, you have dishonored me among my people. By lying to my people, who listen to lies, you have killed people who should not die, and you have kept alive those who should not live.

“I wish one of you would close the Temple doors so that you would not light useless fires on my altar! I am not pleased with you and will not accept your gifts,” says the Lord All-Powerful.

When I was with you, I never wanted anyone’s money or fine clothes.

He must not drink too much wine or like to fight, but rather be gentle and peaceable, not loving money.

These people must be stopped, because they are upsetting whole families by teaching things they should not teach, which they do to get rich by cheating people.

Those false teachers only want your money, so they will use you by telling you lies. Their judgment spoken against them long ago is still coming, and their ruin is certain.

Micah said to him, “Live with me and be my father and my priest. I will give you four ounces of silver each year and clothes and food.” So the Levite went in.

Micah made him a priest, and he lived in Micah’s house.

When they came near Micah’s house, they recognized the voice of the young Levite. So they stopped there and asked him, “Who brought you here? What are you doing here? Why are you here?”

They said to him, “Please ask God if our journey will be successful.”
