The Lord asked Cain, “Why are you angry? Why do you look so unhappy?

Ahab went home angry and upset, because he did not like what Naboth from Jezreel had said. (Naboth had said, “I will not give you my family’s land.”) Ahab lay down on his bed, turned his face to the wall, and refused to eat.

Be careful! Don’t be led away from God by riches; don’t let much money turn you away.

But this made Jonah very unhappy, and he became angry.

So now I ask you, Lord, please kill me. It is better for me to die than to live.”

Jonah went out and sat down east of the city. There he made a shelter for himself and sat in the shade, waiting to see what would happen to the city.

But God said to Jonah, “Do you think it is right for you to be angry about the plant?” Jonah answered, “It is right for me to be angry! I am so angry I could die!”

He says, “My people, what did I do to you? How did I make you tired of me? Tell me.

“Aaron will die. He will not enter the land that I’m giving to the Israelites, because you both acted against my command at the waters of Meribah.

I can do what I want with my own money. Are you jealous because I am good to those people?’
