John 9:16

So some of the Pharisees were saying, “This man does not keep the Sabbath day, so he is not from God.” But others said, “A man who is a sinner can’t do miracles like these.” So they could not agree with each other.

where there was a man with a crippled hand. They were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they asked him, “Is it right to heal on the Sabbath day?”

When the Pharisees saw this, they said to Jesus, “Look! Your followers are doing what is unlawful to do on the Sabbath day.”

The synagogue leader was angry because Jesus healed on the Sabbath day. He said to the people, “There are six days when one has to work. So come to be healed on one of those days, and not on the Sabbath day.”

Again the leaders did not agree with each other because of these words of Jesus.

Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or believe because of the miracles I have done.

I did works among them that no one else has ever done. If I had not done these works, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen what I have done, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.

So in Cana of Galilee Jesus did his first miracle. There he showed his glory, and his followers believed in him.

One night Nicodemus came to Jesus and said, “Teacher, we know you are a teacher sent from God, because no one can do the miracles you do unless God is with him.”

So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “Today is the Sabbath. It is against our law for you to carry your mat on the Sabbath day.”

“But I have a proof about myself that is greater than that of John. The things I do, which are the things my Father gave me to do, prove that the Father sent me.

Then the evil people began to argue among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

Within the large crowd there, many people were whispering to each other about Jesus. Some said, “He is a good man.” Others said, “No, he fools the people.”

If a baby boy can be circumcised on a Sabbath day to obey the law of Moses, why are you angry at me for healing a person’s whole body on the Sabbath day?

So the people did not agree with each other about Jesus.

So for the second time, they called the man who had been blind. They said, “You should give God the glory by telling the truth. We know that this man is a sinner.”

But the city was divided. Some of the people agreed with the Jews, and others believed the apostles.
