God’s word is alive and working and is sharper than a double-edged sword. It cuts all the way into us, where the soul and the spirit are joined, to the center of our joints and bones. And it judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts.

We get our new life from the Spirit, so we should follow the Spirit.

I will never forget your orders, because you have given me life by them.

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, who would we go to? You have the words that give eternal life.

When I suffer, this comforts me: Your promise gives me life.

You have been born again, and this new life did not come from something that dies, but from something that cannot die. You were born again through God’s living message that continues forever.

Learning your words gives wisdom and understanding for the foolish.

These should not be unimportant words for you, but rather they mean life for you! By these words you will live a long time in the land you are crossing the Jordan River to take as your own.”

It is written in the Scriptures: “The first man, Adam, became a living person.” But the last Adam became a spirit that gives life.

So faith comes from hearing the Good News, and people hear the Good News when someone tells them about Christ.

Christ himself suffered for sins once. He was not guilty, but he suffered for those who are guilty to bring you to God. His body was killed, but he was made alive in the spirit.

Also, we always thank God because when you heard his message from us, you accepted it as the word of God, not the words of humans. And it really is God’s message which works in you who believe.

Through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit that brings life made you free from the law that brings sin and death.

God decided to give us life through the word of truth so we might be the most important of all the things he made.

Then the Lord God took dust from the ground and formed a man from it. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nose, and the man became a living person.

And that water is like baptism that now saves you—not the washing of dirt from the body, but the promise made to God from a good conscience. And this is because Jesus Christ was raised from the dead.

Training your body helps you in some ways, but serving God helps you in every way by bringing you blessings in this life and in the future life, too.

Do not let all kinds of strange teachings lead you into the wrong way. Your hearts should be strengthened by God’s grace, not by obeying rules about foods, which do not help those who obey them.

It is not important if a man is circumcised or uncircumcised. The important thing is being the new people God has made.

If you follow the law, your circumcision has meaning. But if you break the law, it is as if you were never circumcised.

When we are in Christ Jesus, it is not important if we are circumcised or not. The important thing is faith—the kind of faith that works through love.

Always remember what you have been taught, and don’t let go of it. Keep all that you have learned; it is the most important thing in life.

Just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to those he wants to.

“Go stand in the Temple and tell the people everything about this new life.”
