Jesus knew that the people planned to come and take him by force and make him their king, so he left and went into the hills alone.

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a hill and sat down. His followers came to him,

The people were walking ahead of Jesus and behind him, shouting, “Praise God! God bless the One who comes in the name of the Lord!

They said, “God bless the king who comes in the name of the Lord! There is peace in heaven and glory to God!”

Jesus answered, “My kingdom does not belong to this world. If it belonged to this world, my servants would have fought to keep me from being given over to the Jewish leaders. But my kingdom is from another place.”

“I don’t need praise from people.

The next day the people who had stayed on the other side of the lake knew that Jesus had not gone in the boat with his followers but that they had left without him. And they knew that only one boat had been there.

Jesus went up on a hill and sat down there with his followers.

Nothing in all the world can be hidden from God. Everything is clear and lies open before him, and to him we must explain the way we have lived.
