The wind blows where it wants to and you hear the sound of it, but you don’t know where the wind comes from or where it is going. It is the same with every person who is born from the Spirit.”

Who knows the thoughts that another person has? Only a person’s spirit that lives within him knows his thoughts. It is the same with God. No one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

Suddenly a noise like a strong, blowing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the wind. Prophesy, human, and say to the wind, ‘This is what the Lord God says: Wind, come from the four winds, and breathe on these people who were killed so they can come back to life.’ ”

Since you know that Christ is righteous, you know that all who do right are God’s children.

After they had prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke God’s word without fear.

One Spirit, the same Spirit, does all these things, and the Spirit decides what to give each person.

They did not become his children in any human way—by any human parents or human desire. They were born of God.

He stilled the storm and calmed the waves.

He spoke, and a storm came up, which blew up high waves.

He brings the clouds from the ends of the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain. He brings out the wind from his storehouses.

The wind blows to the south; it blows to the north. It blows from one direction and then another. Then it turns around and repeats the same pattern, going nowhere.

Don’t be surprised when I tell you, ‘You must all be born again.’

Nicodemus asked, “How can this happen?”
