Jacob learned that there was grain in Egypt, so he said to his sons, “Why are you just sitting here looking at one another?

As they were eating, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, one of you will turn against me.”

This made the followers very sad. Each one began to say to Jesus, “Surely, Lord, I am not the one who will turn against you, am I?”

While they were all eating, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, one of you will turn against me—one of you eating with me now.”

The followers were very sad to hear this. Each one began to say to Jesus, “I am not the one, am I?”

“But one of you will turn against me, and his hand is with mine on the table.

Then the apostles asked each other which one of them would do that.

“I am not talking about all of you. I know those I have chosen. But this is to bring about what the Scripture said: ‘The man who ate at my table has turned against me.’

After Jesus said this, he was very troubled. He said openly, “I tell you the truth, one of you will turn against me.”
