Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
While Jesus and his followers were traveling, Jesus went into a town. A woman named Martha let Jesus stay at her house.
But Martha was busy with all the work to be done. She went in and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me alone to do all the work? Tell her to help me.”
But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things.
A man named Lazarus was sick. He lived in the town of Bethany, where Mary and her sister Martha lived.
So Mary and Martha sent someone to tell Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.”
So the Jews said, “See how much he loved him.”
But when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was for two more days.
The followers said, “But Teacher, some people there tried to stone you to death only a short time ago. Now you want to go back there?”
The Father himself loves you. He loves you because you loved me and believed that I came from God.
I showed them what you are like, and I will show them again. Then they will have the same love that you have for me, and I will live in them.”
