When Jesus saw Mary crying and the Jews who came with her also crying, he was upset and was deeply troubled.

Jesus was angry as he looked at the people, and he felt very sad because they were stubborn. Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” The man held out his hand and it was healed.

Jesus answered, “You people have no faith. How long must I stay with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”

Many of the Jews had come there to comfort Martha and Mary about their brother.

The Jews were with Mary in the house, comforting her. When they saw her stand and leave quickly, they followed her, thinking she was going to the tomb to cry there.

He asked, “Where did you bury him?” “Come and see, Lord,” they said.

Again feeling very upset, Jesus came to the tomb. It was a cave with a large stone covering the entrance.

“Now I am very troubled. Should I say, ‘Father, save me from this time’? No, I came to this time so I could suffer.

After Jesus said this, he was very troubled. He said openly, “I tell you the truth, one of you will turn against me.”

Be happy with those who are happy, and be sad with those who are sad.

For our high priest is able to understand our weaknesses. He was tempted in every way that we are, but he did not sin.
