So Mary and Martha sent someone to tell Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.”

Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

“I correct and punish those whom I love. So be eager to do right, and change your hearts and lives.

Erastus stayed in Corinth, and I left Trophimus sick in Miletus.

One of the followers sitting next to Jesus was the follower Jesus loved.

So the Jews said, “See how much he loved him.”

After Jesus said this, he added, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going there to wake him.”

As for the godly people in the world, they are the wonderful ones I enjoy.

A man named Lazarus was sick. He lived in the town of Bethany, where Mary and her sister Martha lived.

When the Lord saw her, he felt very sorry for her and said, “Don’t cry.”

Mary was the woman who later put perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair. Mary’s brother was Lazarus, the man who was now sick.

Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that is what I am.
