Blow the trumpet in Jerusalem; shout a warning on my holy mountain. Let all the people who live in the land shake with fear, because the Lord’s day of judging is coming; it is near.

The time is near when all things will end. So think clearly and control yourselves so you will be able to pray.

Blow the trumpet in Jerusalem; call for a day when everyone fasts. Tell everyone to stop work.

What a terrible day it will be! The Lord’s day of judging is near, when punishment will come like a destroying attack from the Almighty.

“Then you will know that I, the Lord your God, live on my holy Mount Zion. Jerusalem will be a holy place, and strangers will never even go through it again.

“There is a day coming that will burn like a hot furnace, and all the proud and evil people will be like straw. On that day they will be completely burned up so that not a root or branch will be left,” says the Lord All-Powerful.

Then Jerusalem will not be ashamed of the wrongs done against me, because I will remove from this city those who like to brag; there will never be any more proud people on my holy mountain in Jerusalem.

“The Lord’s day of judging is coming soon; it is near and coming fast. The cry will be very sad on the day of the Lord; even soldiers will cry.

Surely you are afraid of me,” says the Lord. “You should shake with fear in my presence. I am the one who made the beaches to be a border for the sea, a border the water can never go past. The waves may pound the beach, but they can’t win over it. They may roar, but they cannot go beyond it.

My hand made all things. All things are here because I made them,” says the Lord. “These are the people I am pleased with: those who are not proud or stubborn and who fear my word.

You know very well that the day the Lord comes again will be a surprise, like a thief that comes in the night.

“The Lord’s day of judging is coming soon to all the nations. The same evil things you did to other people will happen to you; they will come back upon your own head.

When a trumpet blows a warning in a city, the people tremble. When trouble comes to a city, the Lord has caused it.

“Blow the horn in Gibeah and the trumpet in Ramah. Give the warning at Beth Aven, and be first into battle, people of Benjamin.

The time has come; the day has arrived. Don’t let the buyer be happy or the seller be sad, because my burning anger is against the whole crowd.

“Announce this message in Judah and say it in Jerusalem: ‘Blow the trumpet throughout the country!’ Shout out loud and say, ‘Come together! Let’s all escape to the strong, walled cities!’

You, too, must be patient. Do not give up hope, because the Lord is coming soon.

My dear friends, you have always obeyed God when I was with you. It is even more important that you obey now while I am away from you. Keep on working to complete your salvation with fear and trembling,

a day of alarms and battle cries. ‘Attack the strong, walled cities! Attack the corner towers!’

He said to me, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” Then the Lord said to me, “An end has come for my people Israel, because I will not overlook their sins anymore.

“Put the trumpet to your lips and give the warning! The enemy swoops down on the Lord’s people like an eagle. The Israelites have broken my agreement and have turned against my teachings.

When he sees the enemy coming to attack the land, he will blow the trumpet and warn the people.

So say to them, ‘This is what the Lord God says: I will make them stop saying this, and nobody in Israel will use this saying anymore.’ But tell them, ‘The time is near when every vision will come true.

“Look, the day is here. It has come. Disaster has come, violence has grown, and there is more pride than ever.

While I was saying these things in my prayer to the Lord, my God, confessing my sins and the sins of the people of Israel and praying for God’s holy hill,

Lord, you do what is right, but please do not be angry with Jerusalem, your city on your holy hill. Because of our sins and the evil things done by our ancestors, people all around insult and make fun of Jerusalem and your people.

I am making a new law for people in every part of my kingdom. All of you must fear and respect the God of Daniel. Daniel’s God is the living God; he lives forever. His kingdom will never be destroyed, and his rule will never end.

But if the watchman sees the enemy coming to attack and does not blow the trumpet, the people will not be warned. Then if the enemy comes and kills any of them, they have died because of their own sin. But I will punish the watchman for their deaths.’

“When you tell the people of Judah these things, they will ask you, ‘Why has the Lord said these terrible things to us? What have we done wrong? What sin have we done against the Lord our God?’

No one will bring food to comfort those who are crying for the dead. No one will offer a drink to comfort someone whose mother or father has died.

You people who obey the words of the Lord, listen to what he says: “Your brothers hated you and turned against you because you followed me. Your brothers said, ‘Let the Lord be honored so we may see you rejoice,’ but they will be punished.

The Lord All-Powerful has a certain day planned when he will punish the proud and those who brag, and they will no longer be important.

I shake in fear of you; I respect your laws.

The Lord built Jerusalem on the holy mountain.

When both trumpets are blown, the people should gather before you at the entrance to the Meeting Tent.

This is what the Lord says: “I will return to Jerusalem and live in it. Then it will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the Lord All-Powerful will be called the Holy Mountain.”

So all the people of Israel brought up the Ark of the Agreement with the Lord. They shouted, blew horns and trumpets, and played cymbals, lyres, and harps.

And in a war, if the trumpet does not give a clear sound, who will prepare for battle?

The great day for their anger has come, and who can stand against it?”

Swarms of locusts covered all the land of Egypt and settled everywhere. There were more locusts than ever before or after,

The day is near; the Lord’s day of judging is near. It is a cloudy day and a time when the nations will be judged.

The Lord shouts out orders to his army. His army is very large! Those who obey him are very strong! The Lord’s day of judging is an overwhelming and terrible day. No one can stand up against it!

The sun will become dark, the moon red as blood, before the overwhelming and terrible day of the Lord comes.

There are huge numbers of people in the Valley of Decision, because the Lord’s day of judging is near in the Valley of Decision.

How terrible it will be for you who want the Lord’s day of judging to come. Why do you want that day to come? It will bring darkness for you, not light.

The Lord’s day of judging is coming when the wealth you have taken will be divided among you.

“Make two trumpets of hammered silver, and use them to call the people together and to march out of camp.

Cry, because the Lord’s day of judging is near; the Almighty is sending destruction.

Look, the Lord’s day of judging is coming— a terrible day, a day of God’s anger. He will destroy the land and the sinners who live in it.

Shout and yell, human, because the sword is meant for my people, for all the rulers of Israel. They will be killed by the sword, along with my people. So beat your chest in sadness.

Be silent before the Lord God, because the Lord’s day for judging people is coming soon. The Lord has prepared a sacrifice; he has made holy his invited guests.
