Would you say that I am unfair? Would you blame me to make yourself look right?

Does it make you happy to trouble me? Don’t you care about me, the work of your hands? Are you happy with the plans of evil people?

You know I am not guilty, but no one can save me from your power.

See, I have prepared my case, and I know I will be proved right.

God has turned me over to evil people and has handed me over to the wicked.

Then know that God has wronged me and pulled his net around me.

These three men stopped trying to answer Job, because he was so sure he was right.

But Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, from the family of Ram, became very angry with Job, because Job claimed he was right instead of God.

Can anyone govern who hates what is right? How can you blame God who is both fair and powerful?

You are the only one I have sinned against; I have done what you say is wrong. You are right when you speak and fair when you judge.

When the Lord All-Powerful makes a plan, no one can stop it. When the Lord raises his hand to punish people, no one can stop it.

Your agreement with death will be erased; your contract with death will not help you. When terrible punishment comes, you will be crushed by it.

But you should remind me. Let’s meet and decide what is right. Tell what you have done and show you are right.

“How terrible it will be for those who argue with the God who made them. They are like a piece of broken pottery among many pieces. The clay does not ask the potter, ‘What are you doing?’ The thing that is made doesn’t say to its maker, ‘You have no hands.’

No! God will continue to be true even when every person is false. As the Scriptures say: “So you will be shown to be right when you speak, and you will win your case.”

Brothers and sisters, let us think in human terms: Even an agreement made between two persons is firm. After that agreement is accepted by both people, no one can stop it or add anything to it.

This is what I mean: God had an agreement with Abraham and promised to keep it. The law, which came four hundred thirty years later, cannot change that agreement and so destroy God’s promise to Abraham.

The old rule is now set aside, because it was weak and useless.
