Don’t wish for the night when people are taken from their homes.

but we can win with God’s help. He will defeat our enemies.

Rise up, Judge of the earth, and give the proud what they deserve.

The Lord will tear down the proud person’s house, but he will protect the widow’s property.

If clouds are full of rain, they will shower on the earth. A tree can fall to the north or south, but it will stay where it falls.

I send it to fight against a nation that is separated from God. I am angry with those people, so I command Assyria to fight against them, to take their wealth from them, to trample them down like dirt in the streets.

The Lord says, “I will punish the world for its evil and wicked people for their sins. I will cause proud people to lose their pride, and I will destroy the pride of those who are cruel to others.

The Lord All-Powerful has a certain day planned when he will punish the proud and those who brag, and they will no longer be important.

I will force you out of your important job, and you will be thrown down from your important place.’

It was the Lord All-Powerful who planned this. He decided to make these proud people unimportant; he decided to disgrace those who were greatly respected.

The Lord answers, “I have walked in the winepress alone, and no one among the nations helped me. I was angry and walked on the nations and crushed them because of my anger. Blood splashed on my clothes, and I stained all my clothing.

“We have heard that the people of Moab are proud, very proud. They are proud, very proud, and in their hearts they think they are important.”

“This is the meaning of the dream, O king. The Most High God has commanded these things to happen to my master the king:

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, give praise and honor and glory to the King of heaven. Everything he does is right and fair, and he is able to make proud people humble.

“But Nebuchadnezzar became too proud and stubborn, so he was taken off his royal throne. His glory was taken away.

Together they will be like soldiers marching to battle through muddy streets. The Lord is with them, so they will fight and defeat the horsemen.

Then you will crush the wicked like ashes under your feet on the day I will do this,” says the Lord All-Powerful.

The God who brings peace will soon defeat Satan and give you power over him. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

The Lord makes some people poor, and others he makes rich. He makes some people humble, and others he makes great.
