If God should decide to take away life and breath,
The life of every creature and the breath of all people are in God’s hand.
“Why do you make people so important and give them so much attention?
God’s wisdom is deep, and his power is great; no one can fight him without getting hurt.
When you turn away from them, they become frightened. When you take away their breath, they die and turn to dust.
You turn people back into dust. You say, “Go back into dust, human beings.”
You will turn back into the dust of the earth again, but your spirit will return to God who gave it.
They will be gathered together like prisoners thrown into a dungeon; they will be shut up in prison. After much time they will be punished.
