Then Jehoahaz begged the Lord, and the Lord listened to him. The Lord had seen the troubles of Israel; he saw how terribly the king of Aram was treating them.

Jabez prayed to the God of Israel, “Please do good things for me and give me more land. Stay with me, and don’t let anyone hurt me. Then I won’t have any pain.” And God did what Jabez had asked.

When Manasseh prayed, the Lord heard him and had pity on him. So the Lord let him return to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is the true God.

“You must give your whole heart to him and hold out your hands to him for help.

They will not find joy in the Almighty, even though they call out to God all the time.

That person will pray to God, and God will listen to him. He will see God’s face and will shout with happiness. And God will set things right for him again.

The cry of the poor comes to God; he hears the cry of the needy.

If you are good and honest, he will stand up for you and bring you back where you belong.

I love the Lord, because he listens to my prayers for help.

I will give the Lord what I promised in front of all his people.

God, I must keep my promises to you. I will give you my offerings to thank you,

God, you have heard my promises. You have given me what belongs to those who fear you.

They will call to me, and I will answer them. I will be with them in trouble; I will rescue them and honor them.

If you make a promise to God, don’t be slow to keep it. God is not happy with fools, so give God what you promised.

Then you will call out, and the Lord will answer. You will cry out, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you stop making trouble for others, if you stop using cruel words and pointing your finger at others,

Then you will call my name. You will come to me and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

But I will praise and thank you while I give sacrifices to you, and I will keep my promises to you. Salvation comes from the Lord!”

If you make a promise to give something to the Lord your God, do not be slow to pay it, because the Lord your God demands it from you. Do not be guilty of sin.
