“Listen carefully to my words, and let this be the way you comfort me.

Listen carefully to my words; let your ears hear what I say.

Listen to my argument, and hear the pleading of my lips.

Is the comfort God gives you not enough for you, even when words are spoken gently to you?

“I have heard many things like these. You are all painful comforters!

“When will you stop these speeches? Be sensible, and then we can talk.

Be patient while I speak. After I have finished, you may continue to make fun of me.

“Now, Job, listen to my words. Pay attention to everything I say.

“Hear my words, you wise men; listen to me, you who know a lot.

Why spend your money on something that is not real food? Why work for something that doesn’t really satisfy you? Listen closely to me, and you will eat what is good; your soul will enjoy the rich food that satisfies.

So we must be more careful to follow what we were taught. Then we will not stray away from the truth.
