“Everyone wears out like something rotten, like clothing eaten by moths.

Even after my skin has been destroyed, in my flesh I will see God.

They are buried next to each other, and worms cover them both.

Their mothers forget them, and worms will eat their bodies. They will not be remembered, so wickedness is broken in pieces like a stick.

People are much less! They are like insects. They are only worms!”

My skin has become black and peels off, as my body burns with fever.

My body is covered with worms and scabs, and my skin is broken and full of sores.

because you will not leave me in the grave. You will not let your holy one rot.

Do people live forever? Don’t they all face death?

Your pride has been sent down to the place of the dead. The music from your harps goes with it. Flies are spread out like your bed beneath you, and worms cover your body like a blanket.

It is the same with the dead who are raised to life. The body that is “planted” will ruin and decay, but it is raised to a life that cannot be destroyed.
